
First annual Rhythm and Blues
Fest
Touring and local performers will blend their styles for a
night of music and dancing
ROCKLAND – October
10, 2008– The City of Clarence-Rockland, in partnership
with local artists, is proud to present the first annual Rhythm and
Blues Fest, on Friday November 7th, at 9:00 pm at the River Rock
Inn.
This event will feature the band Jake and the Fundamentals, from
North Bay, and local vocalists Jennifer Fontaine, Karen Gatien, the
Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet Vocal Ensemble and musician Jean-Pierre Montminy.
“As the volunteer Event Manager, for
the 1st Annual Clarence-Rockland RYHTHM N' BLUES FESTIVAL, I
am proud to announce the launch of an exciting new community
initiative designed to annually present to
our community , a showcase musical event, featuring a
variety of local and touring top quality performers and staged
in support of the performing arts in our community”, said
Mr. Don Jacobs.
The Rhythm and Blues Fest has the mandate to showcase touring and
local performers, promote the performing arts, and to provide an
array of musical presentations that satisfy the entertainment interests
of our community. The profits of this first annual event will go
towards the new performance hall of the Recreational and Cultural
Complex.
Rhythm and Blues is a popular music genre, originating in the United
States around 1940 and combines jazz, gospel and blues influences.
Tickets are 15$ and are sold at the City of Clarence-Rockland, at the
River Rock Inn and at door. This event is for people 19 years and older.
