The whole community celebrates the official inauguration of the Recreational and Cultural Complex

ROCKLAND – December 5, 2008–  It is with great pleasure that the City of Clarence-Rockland celebrates the official inauguration of the Recreational and Cultural Complex, with its partners the Conseil scolaire de district catholique de l’est de l’Ontario, the National Capital Region YMCA-YWCA and the Clarence-Rockland Public Library.

The City and its partners are also honored to have in attendance the Honorable Jim Watson, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing for this historical event. When Mr. Watson was Minister of Health Promotion in 2007, he came to the City of Clarence-Rockland to present a financial contribution of 3 million dollars.

This adventure would not have been possible without the hard work of the partners and their employees, combined with the dedication of approximately 50 volunteers who sat on different committees like: Campaign Cabinet, Major and Exceptional Gifts, Communications, Special Events, Citizen’s Committee, Golf Tournament and Soft-ball Tournament.

Ten years ago, this project was an ambitious dream that many people thought was impossible. Municipal Council’s vision and the dedication of its employees, innovative partnerships, the confidence shown by the Government of Ontario and a successful fundraising campaign were all essential elements of this project.

The National Capital Region YMCA-YWCA, as well as the Clarence-Rockland Public Library, have been in operation since November. The pool and the café will open soon and the cafeterium’s construction, by the Conseil scolaire de district catholique de l’Est de l’Ontario started recently.

Today, the population of the City of Clarence-Rockland has access to a state of the art Recreational and Cultural Complex…the heart of its community.

ROCKLAND – October 14, 2007  – Mr. Richard St-Pierre of Wendover is the lucky winner of the Ford Mustang convertible, donated by Rockland Ford. The car was the first prize of the draw for the City of Clarence-Rockland’s Recreational and Cultural Complex’ Fundraising Campaign. Ms. Thérèse Meloche, of Wendover, won the home theatre system from Son X Plus while Ms. Louise Daoust, of Rockland, won the landscaping/snow removal service from Landtech.  In the picture, Mr. Jason Moore, owner of Rockland Ford and Mr. Richard Lalonde, Mayor, give the car keys to Mr. St-Pierre.
