La famille Campeau
Why did you decide to be
a volunteer in the Recreational and Cultural Complex Citizens Committee?
I decided to become a volunteer because I thought it was a really
interesting and important project for the community. By getting
involved, I could give my input in certain decisions.
How will
you and your family use the Recreational and Cultural Complex?
The Recreational and Cultural Complex will be the heart of the community
and will be at the heart of our family too. We believe in the positive
impact the complex will have on many people. We will use the complex
to keep fit, to live new experiences and to socialize. We are looking
forward to live great family moments in our complex.
What part
of the Complex will you use the most and why?
With 3 young kids of 6 years and less, we are convinced that the
part of the complex we will use the most is the pool. Swimming is
a great family activity! An fun and refreshing activity which requires
fitness and is also relaxing. Wow!

Gilles Chartrand
why I am volunteering for the Recreational
and Cultural Complex
I am convinced that this is a MAJOR asset for a
municipality like the City of Clarence-Rockland. The number of young
families in the area is exceptional and this Complex will provide
them with many services. It will also attract many families to the
City of Clarence-Rockland.
Our family will also use many services like the
library, the bistro, the gallery for seeing local artists and heritage
collections, the pool, some YMCA services and the performance hall.
This Recreational and Cultural Complex will be a
great source of pride for the population of Clarence-Rockland and
will be an object of envy for other municipalities in the province.
I am looking forward for the grand opening of this magnificent building,
in time for the Centennial in 2008.

Community Campaign:
One Resident at a Time
Since the beginning of the fundraising campaign, we had the opportunity
to visit many local businesspeople who decided to support our cause.
The donations from these people were often reported in the local
media.
Today, I would like to talk to you about the donors who did not
have their picture taken for the newspaper. I am talking about you,
the City of Clarence- Rockland’s residents. Individually, many people
contributed to our fundraising campaign.
In September, the fundraising campaign office sent every residence
in the City of Clarence-Rockland some information on the Recreational
and Cultural Complex project as well as a request for donations.
We are pleased to announce that many people already answered. This
shows once more that the City’s residents are proud of their community
and want to participate in its development.
Up until now, the fundraising campaign received $16,935. Thank you.
I would also like to invite the population to visit our web site
www.complexecrcomplex.com and to take some time to read the list
of our generous donors.
You can still contribute to our fundraising campaign. If you didn’t
receive your information envelope or if you lost it, you can communicate
with the fundraising campaign office to receive a new one.
Thank you all again.

Don Jacobs
why I am volunteering for the Recreational
and Cultural Complex
I enjoy making a contribution to my community and I see the Recreational
and Cultural Complex as a facility which the whole community, from
children to teens to adults to seniors, will be proud of and will
greatly benefit from. It is very important that our citizens are
offered a variety of strong recreational programs in a first class
facility. The new complex will offer many exciting opportunities
for our children and youth to engage in healthy recreational and
cultural programs that will build interest and skills in activities
that will benefit them now and in the future.
I am particularly interested in the Cultural facility and the great
opportunity such a facility offers for the enrichment and promotion
of the performing arts in our community.

Yves Lalonde
why I am volunteering for the Recreational
and Cultural Complex
I believe that this is an excellent initiative that will profit
the majority of the City’s population. We will have these facilities
in our area without having to travel to Orleans or elsewhere for
the same services. I wanted to do my part in order for this project
to become reality.
My daughters attend L’Escale and Ste-Trinité and they will profit
from the Complex with their respective schools while I will use the
recreational facilities and will attend various shows presented at
the performance hall.

Vickie Brunet:
an example of youth leadership
On June 25th, the Recreational and Cultural Fundraising Campaign
office received a really nice surprise. Vickie Brunet, the
2006-2007 Co-President of the École secondaire L’Escale’s
Student Council arrived with a cheque in the amount of $230.
As a fundraising activity, the Communication’s Committee
had ordered awareness bracelets that are the colors of the fundraising
campaign. The École secondaire L’Escale’s Student
Council decided to encourage the sale and to contribute to the cause. The
council members took the responsibility to sell those bracelets to
their fellow students.
“This complex will serve our school. It will
give us, the local youths, something to do. After school, there
is no place for us to meet. With the complex, we will be able to
train at the gym or use the pool”, stated Vickie Brunet.
This student is a good example of youth leadership
for her commitment to the Recreational and Cultural Complex project.
She participated in the youth focus group and in the official sod
turning ceremony last March. As well as the bracelets sale, she also
volunteers to sell tickets for the Ford Mustang draw, which will
be held on October 14.
The awareness bracelets are still on sale at
the campaign headquarters, at the City of Clarence-Rockland’s town
hall.

Luc and
Serge Lavictoire:
community
and sport’s spirit
Luc and Serge Lavictoire are well known in the area for their community
involvement and sport spirit. It was then normal that these two brothers
were among the first people to contribute to the City of Clarence-Rockland
Recreational and Cultural Complex’ Fundraising Campaign.
For the past 11 years, Luc and Serge Lavictoire have been organizing
a friendly hockey tournament in order to meet other sportspeople
and to practice this activity in a pleasant atmosphere. For 9 years,
the event’ profits were presented to the organization Sports Action
who had as a mission, among other things, to plan an exterior running
track.
When the complex project became a reality, Luc and Serge Lavictoire
decided to contribute to this cause that is so important to the area
families.
“This complex is a very good thing for the City of Clarence-Rockland.
It is an asset for everybody. We need this project since many parents
have to go to Ottawa in order for their children to take swimming
lessons,” mentioned Luc Lavictoire.
He is well aware of the importance of physical activity for the population
since he is responsible for the parks and recreation programming
at the City of Ottawa, Glebe, Heron South and Osgoode areas.
On April 13, Luc and Serge Lavictoire presented a financial contribution
of $10,000, representing the profits of the community hockey tournament.
The fundraising campaign volunteers wish to thank them for their
support.
